Writing can seem like a solitary path — but it doesn’t have to be. I offer personalized support for writers at different stages of their creative journey, with a special interest in supporting new voices and creating accessible, welcoming, and tailor-made writing spaces.

Whether you are just starting out, developing an ongoing project, or seeking a careful critical reading of your manuscript, I can help.

All the services I offer are adaptable to your goals, your pace, and your accessibility needs. I primarily work via video call, but I am also available for in-person meetings in Norwich, or in other locations by arrangement.

Writing Mentoring

I know — sharing your newly born scribbles with a large workshop group can feel quite intimidating. My mentoring programme offers a space for those who are just starting out or looking to consolidate their writing practice with individual guidance. You might be writing short stories, working on a novel, or simply exploring voice and structure — whatever your starting point, that’s where we begin.

Sessions are designed around your interests and needs. We might work on topics such as:

Character creation and the development of voice
Narrative structure and pacing
Memory, sensory detail, and setting
Building a sustainable writing routine
Creative blocks and insecurities

Sessions usually last around one hour and can be booked as one-off meetings or as part of an ongoing programme.

Creative Writing Workshops

I facilitate creative writing workshops for schools, universities, community groups, and literary events. The workshops are dynamic, inclusive, and always adapted to the profile of the group or the context — whether for a brief one-hour session or a longer, more immersive experience.

Topics I often explore include:

Character development
Narrative structure and voice
Writing through the senses
Reflective writing and hybrid forms

All workshops are designed with accessibility in mind, with adjustments offered whenever necessary. I have experience working with participants of different ages and learning styles, and I can co-create the ideal workshop for your audience.

Critical Reading

If you are working on a longer piece of writing — such as a novel, novella, short story r essay collection —, or simply would like feedback before submitting a piece to the literary magazine of your dreams, critical reading can help you. With my experience as a published writer, teacher, and PhD in the subject, I can offer you detailed and constructive feedback.

You will receive:

  • A written report with comments on structure, pacing, characters, voice, and thematic development
  • Observations on the strengths of the text and areas that could be improved
  • An optional video call to discuss the feedback
  • I read all manuscripts with care, curiosity, and confidence in the potential of your writing.

Mentoring for Writers with Disabilities: The Crip Writers Project

As a disabled writer, I understand the importance of creative support that recognises the nuances of a body–mind that diverges from the norm, while respecting the rhythms and pauses of the writing process. For this reason, through the DisabledCrip Writers Project, I offer dedicated support each year to a limited number of disabled writers — or aspiring writers Free of charge.

If you identify as a disabled person and would like to work with me, please get in touch. Conversations about specific needs are always welcome, and I offer reasonable adjustments whenever necessary.

This project includes:

  • Individual creative guidance
  • Constructive feedback on manuscripts
  • Support and discussion through dedicated sessions
